Materials and maintenance
We have four different materials: Alcantara, Suede, Leather and Carbon Fiber Leather, each material has different maintenance methods, detailed below:
Alcantara:
Alcantara is a world-famous brand made of synthetic material. It is very soft, durable and easy to care for. If you want to know more about this material, please visit its official website.
- Daily cleaning: Use a soft brush, dry cloth or vacuum cleaner.
- Weekly cleaning: Use a lightly damp white cotton cloth. Do not use printed absorbent cloths or papers, as the ink may transfer onto the substrate.
- Annual cleaning: To clean your Alcantara steering wheel cover you can use specific products such as Fenice, James or Perrone. If you don't have these products, follow these steps:
- Carefully dust the material.
- Dampen a soft cloth or sponge with clean water, wring it out thoroughly and wipe the entire Alcantara surface, taking care not to over-wet it.
- Rinse the cloth or sponge and repeat as necessary. Allow to air dry (overnight).
- Once dry, gently brush with a soft brush to restore the material.
suede:
Suede is also a synthetic material and is not as soft as Alcantara. Our suede is an environmentally friendly synthetic material, unlike real suede (animal skin).
How to maintain a suede steering wheel cover: Follow the same steps as how to clean Alcantara.
leather:
Stitchingcover has two kinds of leather, one is genuine leather (real leather) and the other is PU leather (synthetic leather). Genuine leather is animal skin, PU leather is synthetic material, eco-friendly. Both leather steering wheel covers have 24 months warranty and will last for at least 2 years. Full refund or reshipment is guaranteed if any quality problem occurs.
How to maintain your leather steering wheel cover:
- Do not leave your leather cover in a damp parking lot for an extended period of time as it may develop mold.
- Mix warm water and dish soap, dip a soft cloth into it, wring it out, and gently wipe the leather surface. Then wipe off the soap with another clean, damp cloth. Towel dry.
Leather steering wheels are very easy to care for and will become beautiful with everyday use. No special cleaning is required. However, do not use hand lotions that contain alcohol as the alcohol can damage the leather over time.
Carbon Fiber Leather:
- Carbon fiber steering wheel covers do not require any special care.
- A simple wipe with a damp towel can help prevent aging and extend its life.Severe surface stains can be treated with a clean damp sponge dipped in a mild detergent solution and allowed to air dry.
- Be careful not to wash it with water.
